If you can dodge a wrench...
Coach and Consultant Director at your service
Are you taking a show to the Edinburgh or Camden Fringe and want a fresh pair of eyes? Perhaps you’re creating a new act and could do with some direction? Or maybe your improv group needs an impartial guide to take the reins for a session.
With multiple Fringe runs under my belt and over 16 years experience in improv, sketch and character comedy I’m sure I’ll be able to assist. I could list all my accolades and credits but I’ll let some of my recent clients do the talking instead:
“Charlie’s coaching has been crucial to the growth of my act. She encourages me to get out of my comfort zone, engage with new techniques while developing those familiar to me, and achieve the best possible outcomes of my performance, all within the friendly, non-intimidating environment she creates. She is engaging, knowledgeable, positive and above all, a great listener. I can’t recommend her enough!” - Hannah Whyte
“I was apprehensive about how useful an online 1-1 with someone I’ve never worked with could be, but by the end of the session I’d got several new ideas for material (including incorporating crowd work which I’d specifically asked about), practical tips for how to develop the character’s physicality (acted out by Charlie!) and had deepened my understanding of both the character and my process. I also cried laughing because Charlie is so funny. She’d watched the clip of my act that I’d sent and already had a solid grasp of the character. I felt I could be honest, vulnerable, theoretical and stupid. All approaches to the conversation were on the table. I was so surprised at how useful it was! I’m feeling excited and confident about applying the ideas we discussed. I hope to work with a Charlie a lot more in the future. It’s worth a lot more than £15 but don’t tell her I said that.” - Judy Harris
Charlie is a brilliant performer and teacher. She is highly creative and very astute when it comes to planning sketches and bits. She is really fun and flexible in her approach - she got me to the sketch off semi final and I know she got others to the final thanks to her coaching and eye for comedy.” - Emma Davies
"Thanks very much for your help with the show, you really brought more life to the material and gave us a great outside perspective whilst being conscious of the level of change we could achieve in a short timeframe." - Nadine Bailey
“Charlie is a great coach, her style is enthusiastic and encouraging, taking time to give practical and actionable notes that have without doubt made our shows better. She has a great understanding of all aspects of comedy and brings a clear, useful perspective to any group. Thanks Charlie!” - Gamez
