FAQs about my Improv for Business Course
Two days left to get the Early Bird Discount!
Thinking of joining my Improv for Business & Personal Development Course?
Here are some FAQs that might help sign up in time for the Early Bird discount!
Q: Who is this course for?
A: Across all my clients and people who sign up for this course, there are broadly two camps:
Firstly, there are those who are already aware of improv comedy, love watching it and can already see the benefits. However, they’re nervous about signing up to a regular improv course because they don’t want to perform or not sure their employer will support them. The beauty of this course is that you get all the fun of improv but can focus on the skills and themes that are most relevant to your work and life.
The second group are people who have done all the usual business training and looking for something fresh and new that not only challenges them but could give them an edge. Both groups get a lot out of my teaching and I believe can help bring the best out of each other.
Improv by its very nature is inclusive and adaptable and I am always happy to discuss any concerns ahead of time.
Q: What actually happens on the course?
A: Throughout the course we will be practising exercises improvisers use to help build confidence, responsiveness and communication skills. Think of it like doing reps at the gym!
Each week will focus on a particular theme. In the first half of class we will be playing group games that help us explore the topic. In the second half we will apply those skills in a "challenge". These will often be presentation based and will be an opportunity to gain personal feedback.
Q: Is it scary?
A: No! The idea of doing improv comedy can seem intimidating but I promise you won't be forced up on stage at the Comedy Store. These courses are designed to nudge people out of their comfort zone occasionally but in a way that is productive and always in safe and supportive environment.
(Think Taskmaster rather than The Apprentice!)
Q: Do I need to be funny?
A: Nope, but you might surprise yourself... I tell all my improv students "don't try to be funny". Instead, be open and take part. Follow this advice and you'll find that your natural charm shines through.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: This course is for people at any stage of their career who want to level-up their skillset or try something new. The majority of people I work with are on the cusp of being promoted to new leadership or client facing roles. Even if you are retired but thinking of finding a new venture, this is a great way to refresh and reconnect.
Q: I speak English as a second language. Can I still take part?
A: Definitely! In fact, I've worked with many ESL clients and students who find improv is a fun and effective way to give them more confidence speaking English at work.
Q: I have access needs. Can I still take part?
A: Of course. The studio is on the ground floor of Theatre Deli, which is completely wheelchair accessible. It is also very close to Liverpool Street and Bank Stations, which have lifts for some lines.
Improv by its very nature is inclusive and adaptable and I am always happy to discuss any concerns ahead of time.

Q: Is it just for women?
A: I get this quite a lot! The course is open to all, although the majority of sign-ups to my courses do tend to be women. Everyone is welcome so long as they are willing to be part of the team.
Q: I can't make every class. Can I still do the course?
A: The more you put in, the more you will get out of it. I'd say if you are going to miss more than 2 classes you'd be better waiting until the next course. If you do have to miss a class, please let me know as soon as you can in advance. (The course is finished by halfterm!)
The main thing is you are supportive and take part when you are present so that the group can maintain a strong level of trust.
Q: Where do I sign-up?
A: Follow the link below! You can still get an Early Bird discount until 30th November. If your employer is covering your fee and requires extra documentation, please email charlie@jollitycoaching.com
